Daily Itinerary
Day 1 May 18 - Departure
Our travel company will arrange and pay for each participant's flights from their home airport to Tel Aviv.
Day 2 May 19 - Arrival
When you arrive at Tel Aviv airport, your guide, coach, and driver will await you. We will board the bus and drive north to Tiberias in Galilee. Dinner and overnight will be at the Scots Hotel. Evening Orientation and Prayer
Day 3 May 20 - Mt. Arbel, Capernaum
Morning Prayer This morning, we begin our day walking on Mt. Arbel. It provides a panoramic view of the northwest shores of the Sea of Galilee. It was the center stage of Jesus’ Galilean ministry – all right at your feet. From Arbel, we will go to Capernaum, Jesus’ hometown, during his time in Galilee. Evening Worship
Day 4 May 21 - Mt. of Beatitudes, Primacy of Peter
Morning Prayer After breakfast, walk from the Mount of Beatitudes down to the seashore and visit two traditional pilgrimage sites along the shore, both marked by historic churches. These are the Primacy of Peter, which marks the traditional spot where Jesus had breakfast with his disciples after their miraculous catch of fish (John 21), and Tabgha, which marks the traditional site of the loaves and fishes. Evening Worship
Day 5 May 22 - River Jordan Baptism Service, Boat Ride, Magdala
Morning Prayer Take a morning excursion to the River Jordan baptismal site, take a Sea of Galilee boat ride, and visit the ancient city of Magdala. Evening Worship
Day 6 May 23 - Sepphoris, Nazareth
Morning Prayer We will devote the day to where Jesus grew up as a boy, Sepphoris, and Nazareth, approximately eight miles apart in central Galilee. Herod Antipas would have resided at Sepphoris when Jesus was a boy. Sepphoris would have overshadowed the little village of Nazareth at that time in size and importance. Still, today, Sepphoris survives only as an archaeological ruin, while Nazareth is a booming city. But both are fascinating. Sepphoris presents one of the most beautiful mosaics to have been found in the region. Nazareth offers two historic pilgrimage churches, both claiming to be the sight of the angel Gabriel’s annunciation to Mary. Evening Worship
Day 7 May 24 - Caesarea Philippi, Golan Heights Drive
Morning Prayer Drive north today through the upper Jordan Valley to Caesarea Philippi at the head of one of the sources of the Jordan River. You will be at the foothills of the Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon Mountains at this point, near the Israel-Lebanon border, and in position for a drive up into the Golan Heights for a view into Syria. Evening Worship
Day 8 May 25 - Free Day in Galilee
Morning Prayer Enjoy today as you explore the area on your own—it is time for prayer and reflection on Jesus’ ministry in this area. Evening Worship with local Christians
Day 9 May 26 - Megiddo, Caesarea Maritima
Morning Prayer Drive to Jerusalem. As the scene shifts from Galilee to Jerusalem in the Gospel narratives, your pilgrimage group goes from Galilee to Jerusalem. The drive itself takes about two and a half hours. You will visit two critical places along the way--Megiddo and Caesarea--and reach Jerusalem in the late afternoon. Megiddo is a typical “tell,” representing this city's stratified occupational remains that flourished during ancient times (Bronze and Iron Ages). It also figures prominently in ancient Israelite history. Caesarea, on the other hand, looks forward to post-New Testament times. After Paul, Peter, and Cornelius came Origin, Eusebius, Richard the Lion-hearted, and Louis IX—dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. Evening Worship
Day 10 May 27 - Bethlehem
Morning Prayer Morning excursion to Bethlehem. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Evening Worship
Day 11 May 28 - Masada, Qumran, Jericho
Morning Prayer Today, we will spend a full day on an excursion to the Dead Sea, visiting three important places along its northwestern shore: Masada, Qumran (where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered), and Jericho. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Evening Worship
Day 12 May 29 - Mt. of Olives Photo, Palm Sunday Path, Garden of Gethsemane, Church of St. Anne, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepluchre, Garden Tomb, Western Wall
Morning Prayer Begin with a panoramic view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives and then walk the Palm Sunday trail through the Garden of Gethsemane, Church of Saint Anne, and Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Lunch will be in the Old City, and the remainder of the afternoon will be time for prayer and study at the hotel. Travel to the Garden Tomb for a communion service and experience bringing in the Sabbath at the Western Wall. Evening Worship
Day 13 May 30 - Walk the Stations of the Cross
Morning Prayer Morning excursion: walk the Stations of the Cross devotionally, starting at the Church of Peter in Gallicantu and ending at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Evening Worship
